When is the best time to schedule a landscaping project in New Jersey?
Most hardscape projects like patios, retaining walls, and stone work can be installed from early spring through late fall. Plantings and sod do best in spring or early fall, when temperatures are cooler and plants establish more easily. For lawn seeding, late August through September typically produces the best results. Because the schedule for our landscape designers fills quickly, we recommend booking 4-6 weeks in advance. How do you handle underground utilities and permits?
For any project that requires digging, we coordinate with New Jersey 811 to have underground utilities marked before work begins. Most landscaping services like mulch, planting, or lawn care do not require permits. However, larger projects handled by our retaining wall builders, such as walls over 4 feet or major hardscape installations, may require township approval. If needed, we'll guide you through the local requirements.Do you have a minimum service amount or service area?
Yes. To maintain efficiency, mulch installations have a 3-yard minimum. All other services are quoted based on the size and scope of the project. Clean Cut Landscape Services proudly serves residential and commercial properties throughout Somerset County, NJ, providing professional patio installation and general maintenance. Will pool landscaping survive NJ weather and pool chemicals?
Yes. We select pool-safe plants that tolerate heat, humidity, and occasional salt or chlorine exposure. For a professional patio installation and pool surround, we use non-slip surfaces, proper grading, and polymeric sand between pavers to prevent weeds and shifting during New Jersey's freeze-thaw winters. Why is drainage important for patios and retaining walls?
Proper drainage prevents water buildup behind walls or under patios, which can cause shifting or cracking over time. Our retaining wall builders ensure every hardscape project includes a built-in drainage system with stone backfill and perforated piping to keep water moving safely away from the structure. Can I plant a new tree where a stump was just removed?
Our landscape designers usually recommend planting a few feet away from a recently ground stump. Wood chips left in the soil can temporarily affect nutrients as they decompose. If planting in the same location is necessary, we can remove excess chips and add fresh topsoil to prepare the area for healthy growth. When should I schedule spring or fall cleanups?
Spring cleanups are best scheduled late March through April to prepare beds for mulch and planting. Fall and leaf cleanups should be booked by early October. Our landscape designers recommend two visits for most properties—one in mid-November and another in early December—to remove the final leaves before winter. What's included in a full property cleanup?
Our cleanups typically include blowing out garden beds, removing debris from lawns, and clearing leaves from hard surfaces to maintain the look of your patio installation. We haul away all debris unless you prefer to keep it in an on-site compost area. How are landscaping services priced?
Pricing depends on the type of service: volume-based for mulch and stone; property size for cleanups and weeding; and project-based for larger tasks. For projects, even complex projects involving our retaining wall builders, a clear written estimate is provided before the project begins.
